Model Railway Club                                           Updated 22nd February 2010

The model railway club is open to Junior Club members and meets most Tuesday evenings.

There is no charge to join the model club but there is a £1 fee when attending the model club.  All fees are put back into the club by helping to purchase equipment and other items.

NEWS FLASH!!

WRjc members will be displaying their "Stanham" display at the Newton Aycliffe Rotary Club, model railway exhibition on Saturday 17th April 2010 at The Youth Centre, Burn Lane, Newton Aycliffe. DL5 4HT  - why not come along!

This exhibition will probably be the last time that the Stanham display is exhibited externally as during 2010 the layout will become permanent at Stanhope station.

09/06/08 - National Express East Coast have donated 18 metres of track, signals, 2 crossings, 2 bridges and a tunnel to the club.  Many thanks to NXEC Driver Training for their generous donation.

10/01/09 - Following the temporary suspension of model club activities due to accommodation difficulties, work has now started on a layout which will be based in the WRjc training room.  The layout will be constructed so that it can be dismantled and transported to exhibitions in addition to being displayed at Stanhope Station.

01/04/09 - The club received a donation of 11 locomotives and rolling stock from the sisters of the late Martin Allnutt - Mrs Mary Ackroyd (Durham City) and Mrs Jane Carras (Athens).  The donated items formed part of Mr Allnutt's personal collection.  The club members are very grateful to Mrs Ackroyd and Mrs Carras for their kind donation. Some of the donated locos will be used during the Easter weekend model display.
